Please join us for the "Navigating Mental Health in the Classroom" workshop, part of our Instructor Wellbeing series, hosted by the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and facilitated by Ross Szabo.

This event is a practical training designed to help instructors, TAs and postdocs address common mental health challenges that might show up in class and office hours. Given that research on mental health literacy has shown that having more accurate terminology for emotions improves mental health outcomes, the first part of this session will provide instructors with a common language around mental health. This baseline will support instructors' ability to navigate issues inside and outside of the classroom. The second part of this session focuses on personal storytelling, which is one of the oldest and most effective forms of education, and a powerful tool for supporting students. Instructors will learn guidelines for personal storytelling to protect themselves and students, and to reinforce learning objectives across subject areas. The event is scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2025, 9am-12:30pm in the Luskin Conference Center. All instructors, TAs, and postdocs are invited. Breakfast will be provided. Thank you for your interest in this event.
