UCLA Volunteer Center One Bus, One Cause - Smithsonian Transcription Center

To celebrate Women’s History Month, the Volunteer Center is partnering with the Smithsonian Transcription Center to transcribe historical documents that focus on women in history. We’ll start off with an introductory orientation with the Smithsonian Institute where they will explain the importance of the Digital Volunteers and how to start transcribing from home. After, we will begin working on transcription project with the Smithsonian Institute available to assist with any questions.
The Woman’s Building Feminist Studio Workshop - Originally founded by artist Judy Chicago, graphic designer Sheila Levant de Bretteville, and art historian Arlene Raven in 1973, the Woman's Building served as an education center and public gallery space for women artists in Los Angeles and southern California. The records document both the educational and exhibition activities and consist of administrative records, financial and legal records, publications, curriculum files, exhibition files, grant funding records and artist's works of arts and prints.
Join 35,591 “volunpeers” to add more to the total 690,811 pages of field notes, diaries, ledgers, logbooks, currency proof sheets, photo albums, manuscripts, biodiversity specimens labels, and historic audio recordings, that have been collaboratively transcribed and reviewed since June 2013.
