The Instructional Design Team at the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) collaborates with faculty members, instructors, and various campus partners, including the Center of Excellence (CoE), UCLA Library, academic departments, ITS units, and more, to promote teaching excellence through collaborative course design and the effective implementation of educational technologies. Through our showcases, we aim to:
-Foster innovative teaching and learning design efforts across diverse courses and modalities.
-Present exemplary course design practices that enhance educational outcomes.
-Explore pedagogical strategies and approaches relevant to various academic disciplines.
-Highlight the integration of campus-wide educational technologies, including Bruin Learn.
October Showcase Topic:
Building a Learning Community Using CampusWire in ECEM 116/CSM 151B
Session Description:
In this showcase, the instructor will briefly discuss the capabilities of Campuswire, a free online platform for teaching and learning that helps professors and students communicate and collaborate. The instructor will also share his experience using it to manage a large class (200+ students) over the past three years. The session will cover the basics and some tips and observations.
Presenter: Nader Sehatbakhsh, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Presenter's bio:
Nader Sehatbakhsh is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCLA. His work is broadly focused on developing secure and private systems and architectures, particularly on computer architecture security, IoT security, and side channels. Prior to joining UCLA in 2020, he earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech in 2020. His work received various recognitions and awards including the NSF CAREER Award.
