BruinTech Connect Spring Conference Day 2: Building a Design Culture (Online)
Wed 5/25 • 10AM - 1PM PDT
Join us for one or more sessions about building a culture of design, BruinTech assessment updates, and social activities!
10-11am: Developing a Culture of Design
Speakers: Anna Ahearn, Cody Ashe-McNalley, Scott Gruber, Annie Watanabe-Rocco
The BruinTech Human Centered Design Subcommittee started with a common goal: promote an improved digital user experience at UCLA. Nuanced terms like “design thinking” and “human centered design” can be challenging to understand and convey, so our team researched, debated, and collaborated to move past specialized terminology and identify the underlying practical and understandable principles. Join us to hear about our journey from this shared ideal to create events, programs, and projects to promote design culture at UCLA. Whether or not you are a designer, learn through theory and our examples how you can introduce design principles to your work. Help us continue to develop a culture of design throughout the UC!
11am-12pm: Hidden in Plain Sight
Speaker: Lynn Boyden
Good user experience, like good librarianship, is invisible to our customers, but how does it get that way? Lynn will walk us through some guiding principles that we can use to provide more useful, relevant, and valuable tools and services
