Ellen Reid SOUNDWALK is a free, GPS-enabled work of public art that uses music to illuminate the built environment of UCLA. Created by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and sound artist Ellen Reid, the experience is guided by the listener: the path you choose shapes the music you hear, and no two journeys will be exactly the same. After downloading the free app and putting on your headphones, you can explore the campus, triggering musical cells that are meticulously programmed to harmonize with the surrounding spaces, with a cinematic score rendered remotely by a patchwork of artists from across the country. This special UCLA edition of SOUNDWALK developed out of CAP UCLA’s commissioning a full scale SOUNDWALK for Los Angeles’ Griffith Park, which is also accessible through the app.
