Med X International
Med X International at UCLA aims to function as a networking and experience-sharing association for UCLA international undergraduates who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine. At Med X International, international premed students will learn how to approach career paths involving sciences and medicine, share their passion about medicine, and offer each other support on the premed track. We will hold Interactive workshops/panels led by invited physicians, scientists, medical students, and upperclassmen peers to encourage our members to not only discover what it takes to become successful pre-medical students as foreign citizens, but also what resources will apply to them that UCLA can provide. Career development workshops (such as CV workshop, how to find shadowing opportunity, MD vs PhD, etc) will also provide students insight into careers in academia, medicine/health care, and research-oriented jobs in medicine. Lastly, our peer mentorship program will pair upperclassmen mentors with premed mentees and offer them guidance on the premed track, including creating a medical school application timeline, finding extracurricular opportunities, coursework planning, MCAT studying, etc. For students who are interested in research, our mentors will share their research experience such as how to find a research position, conduct research projects, write a research paper, and present research work at major research symposiums. Despite we plan to function as a predominantly pre-medical student club to provide resources for students who hold F1 visas, we warmly welcome anyone with no limitations to their citizenship, legal status, religion, family background, sexuality, and their future career choice.
