Eden Landing Ecological Reserve
Help ecologists with the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory (SFBBO) restore wildlife habitat at Eden Landing Ecological Reserve! Volunteers get a tour of an active restoration site, learn local ecology and restoration techniques, view wildlife, and improve the health of the San Francisco Bay. Volunteers get special access to a not normally accessible-to-the-public restricted area while removing invasive plants from critical marsh habitat. Expect to drive a short distance on a graded dirt road. We may walk the rest of the way to the site, about one mile each way.
Because the location is typically closed to the public, we will have to lock the gate behind us, so please let us know if you're running late or need to cancel at the last minute.
Bring:
Sun protection and layers for warm and cold weather, sturdy shoes, clothes that can get a little dirty, and water. No restroom facilities at the site. Due to access restrictions, all volunteers will need to stay for the duration of the event.
You’re welcome to bring your own work gloves, but we will also provide clean gloves. Children at least 12 years of age are allowed if accompanied by a guardian. In case of heavy rains, event will be cancelled and you will be notified beforehand.
