Kamusta, kasama! (Hello, comrade!) Anakbayan at UCLA is a comprehensive youth and student organization working to educate, organize, and mobilize our community to address important issues that affect Filipinos in the U.S. and the Philippines. We aim to unite Filipino youth of all backgrounds as well as all allies, in order to achieve genuine freedom and democracy in the Philippines. Anakbayan at UCLA holds weekly meetings, in which we update each other about the current events in the U.S. and the Philippines that affect the Filipino people. We host educational discussions as part of the organization’s political development and recruitment, organize retreats to build collective life, as well as collaborate with other campus organizations on events and political education series. We also participate in campus-based picket-lines, local rallies, and national mobilizations. Anakbayan at UCLA has committees that manage and coordinate these events, along with the organization’s growth and development. Anakbayan at UCLA is open to all UCLA students. We welcome undergraduate and graduate students to participate in our meetings and events, as they are all eligible for orientation. To be a member, one must attend an orientation, take the organization’s oath, and fill out a membership form. Makibaka, huwag matakot! (Dare to struggle, have no fear!)
