Global Health Language Initiative

Global Health Language Initiative Logo

The goal of the Global Health Language Initiative (GHLI) is to increase language accessibility in healthcare settings by creating a credible and diverse language resource for healthcare workers, which can be used to communicate with patients whose primary language is not English. We aim to compile and translate language that is commonly used in healthcare settings, and present it in a way that is easy to understand and to utilize. GHLI will build a website presenting our compiled translations, and also aim to create a tangible resource that can be used in hospitals, such as language cards which can be tailored to specific departments.
