Entertainment Networking Night at UCLA is an exciting opportunity for UCLA students to learn about the entertainment industry and meet the people who make it happen. Run by the Student Alumni Association, this event creates the perfect platform for aspiring artists, producers, directors, writers, actors, and other professionals to network, build relationships and gain insight into the industry. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the entertainment industry. Meet with UCLA alumni from various fields in entertainment through small, casual discussions. Optimizing Wi-Fi at Home and Office This talk focuses on the most common Wi-Fi problems people experience including slow speeds, dead zones, dropped connections, and unreliable video calls. It explains why these issues happen—often even with “fast” internet—and outlines simple, practical changes that can improve coverage, support today’s growing number of devices, keep guest access separate, and make Wi-Fi more reliable and secure.

The Alumni Mentor Program will host a Networking Night on Wednesday, January 28. This event welcomes both alumni and undergraduate/graduate students to connect, share experiences, and build meaningful professional relationships. Attendees will have the opportunity to network across top industries such as technology, entertainment, healthcare, finance, and consulting. Whether you are an existing mentor–mentee pair looking to strengthen your connection or an alum or student hoping to make new introductions, this event offers a comfortable and engaging environment to practice networking, exchange insights, and expand your community. The evening will also include a fireside chat featuring a mentor–mentee pair who will discuss their approach to mentorship, how they prepare for meetings, and their recommendations for fostering a strong partnership. This book club is for Bruins and friends of all generations to enjoy an enlightening discussion of this most inspiring, fast-paced, exciting, and informative novel, "Resurrection Walk" by Mike Connelly, A Lincoln Lawyer Novel. Many people are entering 2026 already feeling behind. Between rapid advances in AI, a fluctuating job market and economic uncertainty, it is easy to feel reactive. Days get filled responding to what is urgent, leaving little time to step back, reflect and intentionally decide what matters most. This interactive session is designed for those who have not yet had the time or mental bandwidth to properly reflect, set goals or create a clear plan for the year ahead and do not want another year running on autopilot. Rather than a traditional webinar, this session is an immersive working experience using career coach Sami Toussi's trademarked RPP framework (Reflect, Plan, Prioritize). Participants will actively work through guided exercises using fillable workbooks provided during the session. This session is especially valuable for those who feel capable but stretched, unfocused and ready to take back ownership of their time and direction.

Introducing U.C. President James B. Milliken After five scientists affiliated with the University of California recently won Nobel prizes, U.C. President James B. Milliken said it was a testament not just to U.C. but “the long-standing partnership between our federal government and our universities, and our country’s ability to attract the best and brightest from around the world.” But today, he says, funding cuts are threatening this tradition and the future of innovation, which has produced breakthroughs like disease cures, cell phones, and the internet; meanwhile, irrational immigration policies will affect university efforts to attract top talent. These pressures sharpen the need for broad consensus and collaboration reaffirming the public value of higher education. Milliken took office as the 22nd president of U.C. in August and oversees a system comprised of 10 campuses, six medical schools, three national laboratories, and more than 300,000 students. One of his central priorities is protecting U.C.’s “singular legacy” while advancing the university during a transformative moment for higher education. Milliken, who has three decades of experience serving in leadership roles at large institutions, came to U.C. from the University of Texas System, where he served as chancellor from 2018–2025. Despite the challenges facing higher education, he remains hopeful. “Our nation’s colleges and universities are the greatest engines of social and economic mobility the world has ever seen,” he says. He joins Commonwealth Club World Affairs to talk about his vision for the university and his top priorities.

Educational topics include savings, investing, risk management and taking inventory of where you are and where you want to go in terms of your financial health. Conversation focused on goals and time horizon and risk tolerance to guide you towards financial stability.

For this month of love, we're headed back to the same venue where she will talk to us about her second novel, a standalone sequel called Will There Be Love?. It's a drama about romantic and platonic love, commitment and betrayal when a group of Paris & Rome-based friends & lovers meet for a 40th birthday weekend at an Ibizan villa. Whitney will tell us about her own experiences looking for love in Paris, which inspired the first book, do a few short readings, talk about her wild journey from Microsoft communications exec to novelist here in Paris, and have copies of both books to sell and sign!

Start your Valentine’s Day by hiking with OC Bruins! We’ll follow a moderate hike along the West Ridge Trail toward the Laguna Water Tower. This is an easy-to-moderate out-and-back walk/hike on mostly wide, well-maintained dirt re-road with large inclines. The best ocean views are right at the beginning of the trail from the ridge near the park.

From larger-than-life legends to community heroes, UCLA Awards are bestowed upon Bruins who have brought great honor to the university and whose contributions impact the world.
