Please join us for the "Navigating Charged Conversations in the Classroom” workshop, hosted by the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and facilitated by Derisa Grant.
Handling a classroom discussion that suddenly becomes contentious can be a challenge for instructors. Participants in this interactive, case-based workshop will explore how to facilitate these difficult conversations, as well as how to pursue, redirect, or even pause dialogue when tensions arise. Participants will reflect on the alignment between their student learning objectives and various facilitation strategies, as well as approaches for fostering respectful dialogue that centers the needs and wellbeing of everyone in the classroom.
The event will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, 9am-10:30am in Powell 190. All instructors are invited. Light refreshments will be served.
