10 + 10 Pop-Up Series: WI+RE Resources: A Learner-Centered Way to Help Your Students
Tue 10/7 • 10AM - 10:20AM PDT
How can we design learning experiences that meet our students where they are? This presentation will introduce you to the learner-centered design principles behind UCLA Library's WI+RE resources. We'll participate in a rapid empathy mapping exercise to understand a student research challenge, then demonstrate a practical, interactive solution—a WI+RE tutorial that helps address the challenge. You'll leave with a new way of thinking about student challenges and a simple way to embed helpful resources directly into your course on Bruin Learn.
Presenter: UCLA Writing Instruction and Research Education (WI+RE) team.

Each academic quarter, the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) hosts a weekly series of 10+10 Pop-Up sessions on Zoom. These brief, 10-minute presentations focus on specific topics related to course design, teaching, learning, and assessment, and are led by instructional designers and developers from TLC and campus partners. The “+10” refers to an optional 10-minute discussion following each presentation, where participants can ask questions and share insights.
These sessions are open to all UCLA instructors—including faculty, lecturers, instructors of record, graduate student instructors, and postdoctoral scholars. Please direct any inquiries to edp@teaching.ucla.edu.
